XV Congress of Eurasian Universities Association: BSTU Explores Opportunities and Prospects for Cooperation with EAU Member Universities

On March 2, 2023 Moscow State University hosted XV Congress of Eurasian Universities Association. Chaired by Academician Victor Sadovnichiy, EAU President, MSU Rector, the Congress was attended by representatives of 117 universities from 18 countries who came together to discuss integration scenarios for educational and research systems in Greater Eurasia.

In his welcoming speech Victor Sadovnichiy mentioned the Association marks its XV Anniversary as a reputable international organization and successfully undertakes its mission of strengthening and fostering academic and scientific ties. Lomonosov Moscow State University brought together 83 rectors of EAU member universities, 26 rectors of future members and 18 rectors of universities from such countries as Egypt, Iran, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Serbia, Montenegro, etc. Victor Sadovnichiy highlighted the paramount importance of joint educational programs as an effective tool of harmonizing educational standards. The Congress attendees signed dozens of agreements aimed to launched joint educational programs and to successfully implement them.

26 universities joined the EAU as new members, the Russian Rectors’ Union and the Rectors’ Committee of the Republic of Belarus signed a Roadmap of Cooperation. Over 20 universities from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and other countries formalized their partnerships through bilateral cooperation agreements.   

Ihar Voitau, Rector of Belarusian State Technological University took part in the plenary session of XV Congress of Eurasian Universities Association. Ihar Voitau presented BSTU as a new EAU member and participated in the discussion of key areas of academic and research cooperation among the EAU members and the EAU Action Plan for 2023.   

Ihar Voitau held talks with Academician Victor Sadovnichiy about the implementation of the bilateral Roadmap of Cooperation that was signed in June 2022.

On the sidelines of the event BSTU Rector also had a meeting with Konstantin Zaikov, Vice-Rector for Information Policy, International and Interregional Cooperation of Northern (Arctic) Federal University. The parties discussed prospects of academic and research cooperation in such fields as chemical technology, new materials, nanotechnology, biotechnology, ecology and rational use of natural resources, forestry, forest engineering, woodworking, etc.

The talks ended up with signing of a Roadmap of Cooperation for 2023-2025.
