On July 16, 2026, a delegation of leading forestry experts from Uzbekistan visited the Belarusian State Technological University (BSTU). The delegation was led by Gofurzhon Karshiboyev, Deputy Director of the Forestry Agency of Uzbekistan.

This meeting built upon recent discussions with Erkin Mukhitdinov, Director of the Forestry Agency, who had visited BSTU the previous week.

The Uzbek experts aimed to explore opportunities to adopt BSTU expertise in key areas, including forest growing, silviculture, modern forest protection techniques, and efficient forest nursery management.

In response, BSTU representatives highlighted their advanced training programs for forestry professionals which include retraining courses, professional development, internships, and specialized workshops. They also presented vocational and bachelor degree programs designed for future forest engineers. The Uzbek delegation expressed strong interest in the textbook series and educational materials authored by the BSTU faculty.

The Uzbek delegation arrived in Minsk to attend the 90th-anniversary celebrations of the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Belarus. Their agenda also focuses on gaining a deeper understanding of the Belarusian forestry education system. As part of this initiative, the guests are scheduled to visit the Polotsk State Forestry College (a BSTU affiliate) and the Negoreloye Forestry Experimental Station.

Additionally, both parties discussed prospects for joint research cooperation, with a particular focus on integrated forest pest and disease control management.

The visit concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to forging a long-term strategic partnership. By combining BSTU academic excellence with Uzbekistan's evolving forestry needs, this collaboration is expected to drive sustainable ecological solutions and foster a new generation of highly skilled forestry experts for both nations.
