Minsk, June 1, 2026 – Oleg Kozhemyako, Governor of Primorsky Region of the Russian Federation, visited Belarusian State Technological University (BSTU). Andrei Ivanets, Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus, and Serhei Kasperovich, Rector of BSTU, introduced the high-profile visitor to the university history, as well as its educational and research profile. The officials also discussed training professionals for the forestry sector of Primorsky Region.
BSTU is a leading higher education institution among CIS member states in the field of forestry and forest industry education. Currently, 35 students from Primorsky Region are studying at BSTU Forestry and Economic Engineering faculties. They were selected by the Ministry of Forestry of Primorsky Region to earn their degrees in Belarus. These future forestry professionals are enjoying their studies and demonstrating strong academic performance. All of them plan to return and work in the forest sector of Primorsky Region. Governor Kozhemyako elaborated on future cooperation with BSTU, expressing his intention to send practicing forestry professionals for professional development and retraining programs. He also plans to send more students to vocational and bachelor programs to address the current shortage of forestry workers in his region.
Oleg Kozhemyako held a heartfelt meeting with the students from Primorye, noting that his grandmother was born in Belarus. The students were thrilled to meet the honored guest and cordially thanked him for the outstanding opportunity to study in Minsk. They also asked numerous questions regarding their future employment, benefits, and incentives for young professionals.
The Governor shared that young specialists can benefit from government support programs, including subsidized housing and preferential loans. He emphasized that Primorsky Region heavily relies on highly skilled professionals, promising that all BSTU graduates will secure proper employment and competitive salaries. He also pointed out that Primorye boasts unique and exceptionally beautiful natural landscapes. As a result, anyone working in the forest sector can expect an interesting and diverse working environment, ranging from ecological tourism to landscape architecture. The regional government is currently planning to develop eco-trails to attract tourists who want to explore the nature of Primorye in an environmentally friendly way. Governor Kozhemyako advised students to consider careers in landscape architecture and to adopt Belarusian urban greening practices. He expressed hope that their future graduation projects would be highly practical and ready for real-world implementation.
On a final note, Oleg Kozhemyako encouraged the students to study hard to become top-tier professionals, reminding them that Primorsky Region eagerly awaits their return home. He also presented the students with a traditional gift from Primorye – a keg of unique white honey.
