On December 9, 2024, a meeting of the Business Cooperation Council of Belarus and Nizhny Novgorod Oblast was held within the business visit of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast delegation to the Republic of Belarus. The meeting was chaired by Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko and the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Gleb Nikitin. The parties discussed cooperation issues and signed the minutes of the meeting covering a very extensive agenda of future cooperation.
Under the umbrella of the event, Ihar Voitau, Rector of Belarusian State Technological University and Sergey Dmitriev, Rector of Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after R.E. Alekseev signed an agreement aimed to promote educational and scientific cooperation between the two universities.
In his interview to the ONT channel Sergey Dmitriev highlighted the importance of training highly qualified engineering professionals able to develop new materials with unique properties.
Ihar Voitau emphasized the need for joint Belarusian-Russian centres which will develop and produce high-energy products, low-tonnage chemical products and unmanned aerial vehicles.
After the meeting, the NNSTU delegation represented by Rector Sergey Dmitriev and First Vice-Rector Evgeniy Ivashkin visited BSTU where Ihar Voitau gave a detailed overview of educational programs and research developments of BSTU.
The guests visited the BSTU History Museum and wood library – a unique collection housing more than 5,000 wood samples.
The parties also discussed some promising cooperation areas and specified several initiatives to be undertaken in the nearest future.
