Ihar Voitau Attends Meeting of Education Cooperation Council of the CIS Member States in Bishkek

 

 

BSTU Rector Ihar Voitau joined Belarusian delegation to attend a meeting of Education Cooperation Council of the CIS member states in Bishkek.  

The delegation was headed by Alexander Bakhanovich, First Deputy Minister of Education who in his keynote speech noted that “Belarus considers CIS educational area as an important discussion platform for our friends and key partners. Belarusian universities hold over 3,500 cooperation agreements with educational institutions and organizations of CIS member states. These agreements provide a perfect framework for joint events in the field of education, research and youth policy, internships and professional development courses. In a single year representatives of CIS countries have taken part in more than 350 pivotal educational and scientific events held in Belarus. The CIS partner universities and research centre regularly share their best practices in the field of education and research through joint projects, internships, workshops, round table discussions, etc. In particular, more than 100 staff members of educational institutions from CIS member states have completed their internship or training course this year.”

Representatives of Higher Attestation Commission and Republican Institute for Vocational Education also joined the Belarusian delegation in the Council meeting.

The education experts discussed a wide range of pressing issues, including development of national education systems, application of cutting-edge technology and innovations in teaching and learning process, as well as their future expectations about double-degree programs. The main goal of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation across the CIS educational area and to consolidate efforts of solving commonly existing problems and responding to the current challenges.

Special emphasis was made on digitalization of education, improvement of quality of school and university education, professional development and retraining. The experts considered the prospects of promoting the academic mobility and supporting youth projects. 

The meeting resulted in a number of resolutions on further development of the CIS educational area. These will be relevant to the activities of CIS organizations in the field of engineering education and public administration, establishment of the CIS Network University, development of common approaches to the quality of university education, training of skilled workers and professionals, development of national systems of certification of researchers and teaching staff members.
