KAZAN, RUSSIA – In a major move to bolster the technological sovereignty of the Union State, Serhei Kasperovich, Rector of Belarusian State Technological University (BSTU), concluded a high-level business visit to Kazan Federal University (KFU) and leading technical hubs in Tatarstan. The visit marks a transition from academic dialogue to a "full-scale operating alliance" focused on high-tech innovation and elite engineering education.

A Unified Vision for Engineering Excellence
The centerpiece of the visit was a strategic meeting between BSTU Rector Serhei Kasperovich and KFU Rector Lenar Safin. The leaders focused on a critical mission: synchronizing the research and educational power of both universities under the Union State Network University of High Technology (US NUHT).
“Our goal is to create a seamless integration of research infrastructure,” noted the parties. The talks prioritized the development of breakthrough interdisciplinary programs designed to train a new generation of engineers ready to tackle the industrial challenges of Belarus and Russia.
From Lab to Industry: Key Tech Verticals
The tour of Kazan’s premier institutes identified "high-impact" areas for immediate cooperation:

- Green Chemistry & New Materials: At the Alexander Butlerov Institute of Chemistry the focus shifted to "green" chemistry and organic synthesis. Plans are underway to form joint Belarusian-Russian research teams to develop sustainable natural compounds.

- Eco-Innovation and Talent Exchange: At the Institute of Ecology, Biotechnology, and Nature Management, the dialogue shifted toward hands-on experience. The partners prioritized academic mobility, launching student exchanges specifically for industrial internships and practical training. Research efforts will now converge on high-priority sectors: waste recycling, rational resource management, and biotech solutions for forestry and agriculture. Both universities have already mapped out upcoming applied research projects and joint environmental monitoring initiatives.

- The Digital Frontier: Discussions at the Institute of Information Technology and Intelligent Systems centered on digital cloning of industrial processes and AI solutions for enterprise management.
- Aerospace & Composites: A visit to the legendary Kazan National Research Technical University (KAI) solidified a long-term partnership. The two sides are set to collaborate on additive manufacturing (3D printing), composite materials, and structural reliability for the aerospace sector.
Tangible Outcomes
Moving beyond formal tours, the visit resulted in concrete "road maps" for:
- Joint Funding: Coordinating applications for Russian and Union State research grants.
- Elite Mobility: Launching advanced exchange programs for students and faculty to share best practices in real-time.
- Industrial Sovereignty: Aligning academic output with the practical needs of the national economies of the Union State.
Looking Ahead
The visit of Rector Serhei Kasperovich has laid the foundation for a long-standing alliance. The next steps involve the formation of specialized expert working groups to implement these initiatives, ensuring that the BSTU-KFU partnership serves as a primary engine for technological advancement in the region.
