MINSK, BELARUS — A delegation from the Belarusian State Technological University (BSTU), led by Rector Serhei Kasperovich, participated in the prestigious Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) University conferences held in Minsk on June 16–17, 2026.

The high-level summit brought together ministers, deputy ministers of education, university leaders, and education agency heads from across the SCO member states. The opening conference focused heavily on expanding network cooperation to train the highly skilled professionals needed to power national economies.

Andrei Ivanets, Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus, delivered the welcoming address on behalf of the host nation. In his opening remarks, Minister Ivanets emphasized that the continuous evolution of the SCO University is critically important in today’s rapidly digitizing global economy, which places urgent demands on the modern workforce.

As a dynamic network of premier higher education institutions, the SCO University accelerates academic and research exchanges, promotes shared educational practices, and establishes formal mechanisms for cross-border degree recognition among member states and international partners. Through this cooperative framework, member universities unlock massive opportunities for international collaboration, sharing innovative research and best practices.

The summits took place under the umbrella of the X Meeting of Ministers of Education of SCO Member Countries. The comprehensive agenda featured the SCO University Conference, the Forum of SCO University Rectors, the Forum of SCO University Young Scholars, and specialized sessions in natural sciences, ecology, pedagogy, law, economics, and regional studies.

Demonstrating immediate, actionable momentum, several landmark cooperation agreements between universities in Belarus, Russia, China, and Tajikistan were officially signed on the sidelines of the conference.
